Great Black and White Photographers Part 3

1.) What first caught your eye while looking at your photographers photos? Is there something in particular about their photos that made you want to choose them? the theme of black and white makes everything seem serious and i love how you can see the shadows.



I see . . . a women alone outside at night.
. Shes waiting for someone. she is wrapped in a big coat.
I smell . . . dirt and air. i also smell dog poop in the grass. I can smell her perfume she showered in because she probably wanted to smell good for a date tonight.
I hear . . . cars driving by. I  hear crickets outside. i hear people walking on the sidewalks.
I taste . . .dust. i taste the dirt. i also taste the bugs that were flying in my mouth.
I feel . . . cold outside, and lonely. i feel unsafe as if someone is going to take me. i feel bad because this women's date never showed up.



3.) Finally, what would you like to create to show the world your great photographer. Ideas include, posters, power points, a blog, etc. You tell me what you would like to create so we can come up with a plan to share your thoughts and ideas about your photographer with your classmates and with the rest of the school.

1. What theme could you use here at school to make your own mural that tells a unique Akins story? Be specific. Explain what subjects you will include in your mural. The different programs at this school

2. Why is this theme worth devoting time time and effort to capture? Why would other students care about this theme? because it shows other students the different varieties of things to do at Akins besides boring school work and it can help the, find a hobby or have community service hours.

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages to using a phone camera to do this project? advantages -  easy to take the picture, you can edit it right then and there, big screen, so you can see everything nice and clear.
disadvantages- can't fit everything in your photo, you would have to move far back to get everything to fit.

4. What are the advantages and disadvantages to using an SLR camera to do this project?
advantages- you can fit everything in a photo and focus.
disadvantage- you have to hold the camera, and see through a tiny hole.
5. Should we use phones or SLR cameras for this project? Why?

this is my favorite because it looks like a lion is posing and its so funny to me.

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos following the rules I set out for you?

i had trouble with the lines. i couldn't find anything that led to a specific object.




2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general (focus, framing, holding the camera, etc.) did you find yourself thinking about the most? Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly.

the focus was a technical aspect. so i adjusted it and had to stay still to take a clear photo.




3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography?

i would have stood still and took better pictures of lines. i would have took 2 photos per rule that way i could have more options. Also i would have had more students in my photos so i didn't quite follow the directions.




4. What things would you do the same?

 i would do balance the same because it shows 4 students that are symmetrical.




5. When you go out with your next set of prompts, which rule do you think will be the easiest to achieve? 

simplicity because you just have to get low at an angel and I'm pretty good at that.




6. Which rule do you think will be the hardest to capture?

lines because the lines at this school really don't lead to anything.




7. What rule are you still not totally clear on and what can you do to figure out what that rule is?

 the rule of thirds is something im really not clear on because i don't know what it quite means i just know i have to get the attention on one specific object.

1. Where do you think you could take photos like the ones you look at today? i could take photos like these in the art room and jrotc room. 

2. Whose classroom would you like to visit and take photos in? i would like to take photos in jrotc room because they are always in action.

3. What will you do, as the photographer, to get amazing photos like you look at today? i will use simplicity by taking photos from the bottom. i will also use balance by taking photos that have the same side view.

this is my favorite because it has pretty colors and i love science. This photo shows balance on both hands while he's pouring the two liquids into the beaker.

This is the best story because this is the moment where this graduates life changes. He enters the grown up world now and is receiving support from his family over his accomplishments.
